How to make affiliate marketing work for you

Affiliate marketing is, in essence, a system by which you (the affiliate) gets paid for sending business to vendors, whether they (the vendor/ merchant) are selling a product or a service, affiliates get paid for  directing custom to their sites. Some merchants pay for customers clicking a link to a website. While some pay only if a potential customer subscribes or makes a purchase.

Each vendor provides advertisements (banners) to the affiliate. The affiliate places these ads strategically on their site. The ads are monitored through a code contained in the ad. Every time the requirements of the vendor are met you (the affiliate) get paid.

Now that you see how this system works I’m sure the importance of drawing traffic to an affiliate site has become apparent. The more potential customers that visit an affiliate website the more money that website will make.

So, your first step towards affiliate marketing is getting yourself a website.

When you are deciding on the content of your website, researching niche markets can reveal untapped areas of high consumer interest. 
          
Most companies will not use affiliates whose sites contain adult content.
After selecting a suitable market and choosing a catchy, professional sounding domain name (the name you decide .com) for your website, set the look and feel of the site. This is something you can do yourself, but if you are new to web design we would advise that you get yourself a designer to make your ideas work. You will also need a programmer to take care of the technical side of the site, (html code, links and so on.)

At this point the research you did for your site’s topic will help you with the content of the website pages. There are many free guides on how to write good copy available on the internet and writers for hire, but, by choosing a subject for your site that you have an interest in, you can keep costs down and write your own content.
Finally your website will need to be uploaded to a host. These steps are a must.
